  1. Assess your needs

The first step in buying a private jet is figuring out what type of plane best fits your needs. To do this, ask yourself these questions:

    • Where will your private plane be based?
    • How many passengers will typically be with you on your private jet?
    • Where will you typically be flying to?
    • Do you have a budget in mind?

Once you’ve answered these questions, we’ll discuss your options and work with you to narrow the list down to one or two aircraft types.

  1. Market analysis

Our next step will be to perform a detailed market analysis and review the specific aircraft that meet your requirements. And because the demand for private planes has reached an unprecedented level, we not only review planes that are for sale on Controller, but we also reach out directly to owners of planes that we learn will be coming to market soon. This has proven to be a smart and successful approach to acquisition for our clients. We’re also able to assist in the negotiation and preparation of an offer or letter of intent to acquire.
An estimated 75% of all transactions in the past 18 months have been “off-market” transactions, meaning the planes were sold before they were ever listed online.

  1. Review and inspect

Once an offer is accepted, we will coordinate and conduct an onsite review of the aircraft and all airframe and engine logbooks. This review serves as the foundation that helps us determine estimates for your planned maintenance schedule for the next three years. These estimates are critical for you to accurately project your cost of ownership.

Once everything is in order, we will schedule a full prebuy inspection of the aircraft with a team familiar with the specific type of aircraft.

  1. Close

After negotiating any items that we want addressed as a result of the prebuy inspection, we will then work with your aviation tax and legal advisors to prepare closing documents with a reputable aircraft title and escrow company to work toward closing.
