Clearwater FL, (January 13th, 2023) – Clearwater City Council has unanimously approved the lease between the City and Private jet charter and aircraft management company, FlyUSA to operate and redevelop the Clearwater Airpark (KCLW). FlyUSA will take over operation of the Airpark on March 1, 2023 and the redevelopment is to be completed in phases over a number of years.
FlyUSA and Paradise Ventures, a commercial real estate firm, have submitted a proposal to the city of Clearwater, for the city’s RFQ 38-22, a fixed-based operator management and real estate development project for Clearwater Airpark. The proposal includes plans to build a new, state-of-the-art FBO, terminal facility as well as new corporate and T-hangars at the Clearwater Air Park (KCLW).
“Our combined vision is to build a new 15,000 square foot terminal/FBO which will be the catalyst in bringing higher value activities and tenants to the airpark and, at the same time, preparing it for the future of aviation. Bringing the right tenants to the Airpark will result in more efficient, and less intensive, activity for the surrounding neighborhood,” said Barry Shevlin, CEO of FlyUSA.
In addition to the terminal, FlyUSA plans to build approximately 40,000 square feet of additional corporate hangar space to accommodate tenants operating Turboprop class airplanes. This move reflects FlyUSA’s continuing commitment to providing end-to-end private aviation solutions and maintaining unparalleled client experiences. In addition, the concept includes plans to relocate FlyUSA’s corporate offices to the airpark.
Prior to development at the Airpark, FlyUSA plans to move its headquarters from Tampa to Clearwater, expanding upon its local presence in the area. The new head office is going to be in a central location at 380 Park Place Blvd, where FlyUSA will house its charter sales, aircraft management and flight support teams until the Airpark project is completed.
